Een statische robot (oftewel niet-mobiel) kan makkelijk en goedkoop worden gevoed met een stopcontact adapter. Het maximum vermogen voor dit soort adapters bedraagt 2 ampère. De stekker is standaard positief aan de binnenkant en negatief (=aarde) aan de binnenkant.

| De STK500 heeft een voeding nodig van 9 - 15 Vdc. Voor de STK 500 maakt de polariteit van de aansluiting van de voeding op zich niets uit, want die voelt zelf de polariteit aan en past zichzelf aan. Echter, ondanks dat de STK 500 slim omgaat met zijn voeding is het beter om de center negatief te maken. Anders zou hij na het uitzetten door kunnen gaan door zijn voeding gedeeltelijk (de negatieve kant = aarding) te trekken van de seriële poort. Op het stekkertje staat aan weerzijden een plus (+) of een min (-) teken. Dit teken heeft betrekking op de center. Dus als de + wordt aangesloten op de tip dan is de center de plus. |
